Man Man Flyer/poster

Another great poster by James & Sam Heimer.

I will try, depending on how hectic my schedule is, to put together a local/regional show every month or so. All the bands on the April 10th show are from Texas. Three are from Dallas/Fort Worth and When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth are from Austin. When Dinosaurs… will be on the 2nd release by my label, us two records, which should be out by middle to late April. Here is an older mp3 of theirs “Let’s All Get Fades“.

Dallas’ True Widow to headline the Ponytail show on May 21st at The Cavern. Opener still tba. End Sounds has an unreleased demo of “I.N.O.” in mp3 form.
Savannah, GA’s BlackTusk (hyperrealist) were the main support for the recent SkeletonWitch/Kylesa tour. I filmed this at Club Dada on March 18th. The song is “Rift of Men”, which is on the upcoming BlackTusk album.
I will have some video coming soon, but in the mean time, fotophonic was nice enough to share some Sleepy Sun Videos, The Fresh & Onlys videos and some pictures from HOWL’s set. Thanks so much!!
I am pleased to announce that PONYTAIL, Baltimore art-punk four-piece, will be coming to The Cavern in Dallas on May 21st. Other acts and info tba soon.

Ponytail’s newest album, Ice Cream Spiritual (we are free), came out last week. The lyrics (or lyrical stylings), which the majority of the time are indecipherable and incoherent, can be thought of as a drunk Bjork or an spastic Satomi of Deerhoof. The music can directly be compared to Brooklyn’s Parts & Labor or Pterodactyl. I caught Ponytail at Club 1808 in Austin last week and was completely amazed by their enthusiastic performance and how ecstatic I felt after. MP3 of “Celebrate the Body Electric“.
The below video is not the show I attended, but from Urban Outfitters earlier that day. The song is “7 Souls”, which is the 3rd track off the new album.
An almost weekly assortment of musical oddities purchased or given to POF.
CEREBRAL BALLZY – Autistic Expression Ep (self) - cdr with photocopied paper sleeve, features 5 crusty and vile skate punk tracks.

Thee Oh Sees abandon their own label, Castleface, to release a 12 song LP on garage-rock label, In the Red (home to The Strange Boys, Vivian Girls, Dirtbombs and Jay Reatard) Help adds more psychedelic garage pop goodness to their enormously incredible catalog of over 150 songs spread out through 12 albums, eps and splits.
THEE OH SEES – Thee Hounds of Foggy Notion cd & dvd Limited to 1000 copies, this live cd & dvd combo features “performances sans stages and whatnot”.
THEE OH SEES - Sucks Blood (castleface)

Thanks: I need to first say thank you to all the agents, bands, friends and citizens who made yesterday happen; and the turnout was fantastic for a first attempt. I like to give very special thanks to M for working the door at the very last minute. You really kept things flowing better than anyone else yesterday.
Cancellations: Trash Talk cancelled that day due to Lee re-injuring his knee cap. Wavves cancelled because he didn’t want to make the drive/play. I assume both bands were beat down from the previous days activities in Austin. With the way bands tour these days, both will come back eventually.
Sound: I was extremely disappointed by the overall consistency of ‘good sound’ and ridiculous feedback ‘off and on’ the entire day. Also, I do not know why they weren’t prepared for change overs. The attitude displayed between the soundman and The Coathangers and Young Widows was completely unprofessional and should not ever happen in a venue. Granted it’s humorous when the drummer and soundman arguing and talk shit to each other during the set, but for him to mute all of Young Widows sound and walk-out was just plain shitty. I will have a different sound guy at my next shows at the Lounge. Sorry.
Final line-up:
Young Widows, My Disco, Thee Oh Sees, Women, Abe Vigoda, Pterodactyl, Ty Segall, The Coathangers, Vampire Hands, Sleepy Sun, The Fresh & Onlys, Howl, Juarez

The Deathset’s performance last year at the Lounge was one of my favorite shows of 2008. Joining them on this package tour is a whole assemblage of unique american acts: Team Robespierre (Brooklyn), Ninjasonik (Brooklyn),Totally Michael (Bloomington, IN). Cerebal Ballzy (Tacoma). Ninjasonik had a notable club hit a while back with the song “Tight Pants”. Expect short, aggressive and fun sets from all the bands.
Here is a video of deathset i filmed at good records/loft
